There are a ton of different acne treatments available on the market, and most of them won’t do much at all to treat your acne.  It’s an unfortunate truth that only a handful of the acne products that you can get at your local drug store are going to give you the results that you want.  This happens because we all have very different types of skin.  Products that are designed for dry skin aren’t going to do much at all for those with oily skin.  Oily skin treatments are going to be way to harsh for people who have dry or sensitive skin.  In this post I want to offer some tips to help you figure out which acne treatment is right for skin.  It takes a bit of work, but it will help find the one that will actually get rid of your acne!

After you know what your skin type is it is time to start working on finding the right treatment.  Most acne products will have some sort of label on them that tells you what type of skin they are designed for.  Choose one that fits your budget and matches your type of skin.  The key here is to stick with the treatment for at least one bottle/jar/tube.  This gives the active ingredients enough time to work their magic.  Many people make the mistake of giving up on something before it has a chance to actually start working.

There is a good chance that first treatment doesn’t do much at all, and this is fine.  The trick is to figure out what it did (or didn’t) and find another treatment that does everything better.  If it didn’t do anything, your next choice should be something that has a higher concentration of the active ingredient.  If it dried your skin out, or made your acne much worse, you have to find something that is milder.

After two or three times through this process of elimination you are going to be able to settle on an acne treatment that will really provide great results.  There isn’t a magic trick to any of this, or a single product that I can recommend you start with, instead it takes patience and persistence.  The payoff is that you will find the treatment that will clear up your skin for good!
